App Store description, subtitle and keyword generator
Write an App Store listing that fits Apple's limits. Describe your app, get a title, subtitle, keyword field, promotional text and description, and edit everything with live character counts.
Step by step
How it works
- 1Enter your app's name, what it does, and its key features.
- 2Get a title, subtitle, promotional text, keywords and description.
- 3Edit anything; the counters show how close you are to each limit.
- 4Copy each field straight into App Store Connect.
Apple's character limits
App name (title): 30 characters. Subtitle: 30 characters. Promotional text: 170 characters. Keywords: 100 characters, comma-separated. Description: 4,000 characters. The counters in this tool use these limits and turn red when you go over.
How each field affects search and conversion
The title and subtitle are the most heavily weighted text for App Store search, and also the first thing a person reads, so they carry both keywords and the promise. The keyword field is invisible to users but indexed; do not repeat words that already appear in the title or subtitle, because they are already counted.
The promotional text can be changed without a new version, so it suits announcements and seasonal messages. The description is not a major ranking factor on the App Store, but it matters for conversion: the first two lines are what people read before tapping "more".
Writing tips
Lead with the benefit, not the feature list. Use short paragraphs and a simple bullet list. Keep claims you can back up: reviewers and users both punish exaggeration. After you launch, revisit the keyword field every few weeks and swap out words that are not earning impressions.

Frequently asked questions
Will this guarantee better ranking?
No tool can. It gives you a clean, correctly sized starting point built around your keywords; ranking also depends on downloads, ratings and competition.
Should I repeat keywords across fields?
No. Words in your title and subtitle are already indexed, so spend the keyword field on different words.
Why is the description only one part of ranking?
On the App Store it matters mainly for conversion. The title, subtitle and keyword field do most of the search work.
Can I use the text as is?
Read it first and remove anything your app doesn't do. You are responsible for the accuracy of your listing.
Does it work for Google Play?
The limits and advice are for the App Store. Google Play has different limits and indexes the description.
